I’m Kristen Audet and I am running for the open Dane County Board of Supervisors seat representing District 17. I’m so fortunate to have had so many opportunities to work with and learn from fellow Wisconsinites and it’s time I gave back to my local community. I’m ready to work for and with you! I am running to because I want to ensure a safe, healthy, and sustainable Dane County for the whole community. I will put an emphasis on collaboration and communication with residents and other elected officials. My public health and law education, background working with government bodies, and emergency management expertise will be well utilized on the Dane County Board.

I’m so grateful for former Supervisor Jeff Pertl’s service to this community, and I’m ready to step into this role. I see an opportunity, and a need, to bring together different governing bodies, residents, and experts throughout our community to drive effective partnerships and collaborate for a safe and healthy community. I will bring a fresh new voice to the county board with an emphasis on outcomes and getting work done. I am excited to work with the City of Madison and other stakeholders to make our community even safer and healthier.

I excel at bringing together different stakeholders and facilitating agreements that work for all. I know the value of making fully inclusive decisions and enacting solutions. Residents don’t want to hear officials pivot about which body is responsible for which job – we just want to see some collaboration, communication, and action. I can drive that.

My “to do” list for the county supervisor role includes:

  1. Build a healthy community by ensuring clean drinking water, outdoor recreation, and mental health care that is accessible to all ages and backgrounds.
  2. Invest in community centers for families and kids of all ages to learn, play, and grow together in a sustainable, inclusive environment.
  3. Promote safe transportation options that increases access to jobs, medical appointments, groceries, and community events.

I work for UW Organ and Tissue Donation reviewing federal and state legislation, developing policy, providing regulatory oversight, and navigating the complex relationships between hospitals, medical examiners, law enforcement, the District Attorneys, and eye tissue banks.
